20. FINAL GREETINGS AND BENEDICTION (PHIL 4:21-23)

20. FINAL GREETINGS AND BENEDICTION (PHIL 4:21-23):

Paul finally writes to the Philippians to greet every saint in Christ Jesus. The brothers who are with him greet them. Paul mentions every believer in the church in Philippi as saints, as they are called to live for the Lord, by being holy as children of God. Paul has genuine love for the church, and he carefully instructed them according to their needs and finally conveyed his wishes to them. Also, Paul always gives importance to his companions and mentions the greetings from the brothers who were with him in his ministry. Some of the companions who could have been with Paul are Timothy, Silas, Luke, Epaphras, Marcus, Aristarchus, and Demas.

Paul then conveys that all the saints greet them, especially those of Caesar’s household. Paul then specifically mentions that the children of God who are with him send greetings to the Philippians, and further narrows it down to those who are in Caesar’s household and got to know about the Lord, where Paul was imprisoned.

And Paul concludes by saying that the grace of the Lord Jesus Christ be with their spirit. It is more or less a usual and final benediction of apostle Paul, as he used to do in his letters.   The grace of the Lord Jesus Christ is always necessary for everyone to repent and reconcile with God, and the author was acutely aware of the consequences.

Stimulations for Self-Reflection:

1.      How does Paul want to greet every saint?

2.      What does Paul mean by saying ‘every saint’?

3.      Who all along with Paul, greets the Philippians?

4.      Who are the brothers there along with Paul?

5.      Who are all of Caesar’s household?

6.      What did Paul finally convey?

7.      Why does Paul mention that the grace of the Lord be with their spirit?

How shall we greet one another?
